A Study on the Reality and Gap of Social Exclusion between Generations - Focusing on Millennials and Baby Boomers -

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the social exclusion status of millennials and baby boomers, and to identify the factors that influence them.
The social environment in which each generation has lived is different, and as a result, the areas and levels of social exclusion they are experiencing are different. Differences like this make different perspectives on society, and furthermore, they lead to conflict between generations. Therefore, identifying the causes of social exclusion in each generation will be an opportunity to understand the differences in perspectives on society between generations.
Through this, we intend to provide an opportunity to alleviate the conflict between generations. Therefore, this study attempted to examine the social exclusion of millennials and baby boomers, and to identify influencing factors.
This study extracted 2,158 millennials and 1,895 baby boomers in the 10th year (2015) using data from the 10th-15th year of the ?Korea Welfare Panel?.
Prior to the analysis, the¡¯fuzzy set theory¡¯ was used to more objectively measure the level of social exclusion. After that, the factors influencing social exclusion of each generation were identified using the¡¯fixed effect model¡¯ that considered changes in social exclusion over time.
As a result, the common factors influencing social exclusion of each generation were the place of residence, presence of marriage, the number of household members, the presence of chronic diseases, service and sales jobs, unemployed, temporary, daily workers, self-employed, unpaid family workers.
Next, the difference factors influencing social exclusion of each generation are age for millennials, whereas education level, office worker, public worker for baby boomers. Appeared as. Based on the results of this analysis, it will be possible to alleviate the conflict between generations and provide an opportunity to understand each other.
